Memphis Wedding Proposal: Taylor + Emily
Get your tissues ready. This is a story about a girl, her pup, and her man.
Taylor has been one of my closest friends for a few years now. And, the coolest thing has been being able to see his relationship with Emily blossom from awkward dating phase where they were trying to figure each other out, to a partnership where they poke fun at each other's quirks. They used to be my regulars at Memphis Made every Thursday night for trivia. That's where I first met Natoka, Emily's sweet dog.
Anyways, let's fast forward this a little.
Taylor came to me MONTHS ago- like.. December-to try to plan his proposal with Emily. He wanted to incorporate one of their favorite date spots and Emily's first love- Natoka.
We knew Emily was pretty keen to pick up on Taylor's usually bad lying skills. So, we decided to run a decoy session with Emily and schedule a "mommy and me" session with Natoka. So as I lead Emily through a few photos with her dog, we went deeper into the forest and as we turned on bend, I told Emily "go ahead, I'll be behind you." She turned the bend to find a strange, fancy man holding a gorgeous bouquet. It was Taylor standing in the woods with a beautiful picnic set up, roses in his hands.
Watching her face change from "there's a weird man in the woods" to "that weird man in the woods is my man?" to "holy cow he's here for me..to..." *cue the tears*
Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?
Emily: We have always felt extremely comfortable together. There is never a fear of being open and honest with each other. We have been through things together that many go years without experiencing, both good and bad, and it has always brought us together to be stronger. We love to try new things together and are a balance for one another.
Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)
Emily: I knew night one. Talking with him was like nothing I had ever felt before. He made me feel comfortable and I could instantly tell the kind of person he was and I loved him for that. I probably shared more about myself than I should have that night but he didn't care or judge me for it, which made me like him that much more.
Taylor: I knew on our third date. While I knew I was crazy about her from the first date, it was the night at Shelby Farms with her dog Natoka that I knew I could not spend my life without her. Her bluntness and strength was something that I had always been looking for.
